Best High Schools in Las Vegas

Planning to buy a home in Las Vegas? For lots of buyers, schools can have a huge impact on where you choose to buy. If you’re wondering what some of the best high schools in Las Vegas are, I’ve put together a list below (in no particular order) to hopefully help you narrow down where you want to be!

1. The Meadows School (Private)

The Meadows School is a private school in Summerlin (the west side of Las Vegas). It covers elementary school all the way through 12th grade, and emphasizes a college-preparatory curriculum.

2. Advanced Technologies Academy (Public)

Advanced Technologies Academy, also called A-Tech, is a public career and technical academy. It’s pretty centrally located, which gives you plenty of options for where to live if you’re thinking about moving to Las Vegas! A-Tech teaches students the core high school classes, but also focuses on magnet courses such as computer science, engineering, graphic design, architectural design, cybersecurity, legal studies, and more.

3. Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas (Public)

Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas (CASLV) is a public charter school that covers elementary through high school. Students focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) courses to help prepare them for STEM fields in college. CASLV also organizes STEM fairs and local and statewide math and computer programming competitions for students to participate in.

4. West Career & Technical Academy (Public)

West Career & Technical Academy (also called West Tech) is located in Summerlin and is a public magnet school similar to Advanced Technologies Academy. It covers grades 9 through 12, and offer magnet courses such as biomedical sciences, business management, digital media, engineering and robotics, nursing, and more.

5. Bishop Gorman High School (Private)

Bishop Gorman High School is also in Summerlin, and is the oldest Catholic high school in Southern Nevada. It’s a highly rated private school here in Vegas, and strongly emphasizes their college prep curriculum, with 98% of their students going on to attend college.

6. College of Southern Nevada High School (Public)

College of Southern Nevada High School is a public dual credit program for students in 11th and 12th grade. With this program, students can earn college credits while finishing high school, and Clark County School District pays for up to 12 approved College of Southern Nevada credits per semester. (Side note: I went to the College of Southern Nevada for my associate degree and loved it, so I’d definitely recommend doing a program like this if you think your kids would be interested!)

7. Las Vegas Academy of the Arts (Public)

Las Vegas Academy of the Arts is a public magnet school in the Las Vegas Founders District (which is a pretty central part of town). It covers grades 9 through 12, and gives students the opportunity to focus on courses in dance, theater, music, visual arts, and more.

8. The Adelson Educational Campus (Private)

The Adelson Educational Campus is a private school for preschool through 12th grade, and is located in Summerlin. It’s the only pre-K through 12th grade Jewish community school in Nevada, and focuses on Jewish values.

9. Faith Lutheran Middle school & High School (Private)

Faith Lutheran is a private Lutheran middle and high school in Summerlin. It is also the biggest Lutheran school in the US, and the biggest private school in Nevada, with over 1,900 students between middle and high school.

10. Northwest Career & Technical Academy High School (Public)

Northwest Career & Technical Academy High School, or Northwest Tech, is located in Centennial Hills on the Northwest side of Las Vegas. It’s a public school that offers magnet courses for students. Core focuses include things like biomedical science, veterinary science, mechanical technology, construction technology, engineering and design, culinary arts, teacher education, hospitality, and more.

11. Coronado High School (Public)

Coronado High School is a public school in Henderson. It’s one of the best rated high schools in Las Vegas, with a student to teacher ratio of 30 to 1. Between 9th and 12th grade, there are around 3,400 students enrolled at Coronado.

12. Ed W. Clark High School (Public)

Ed W. Clark High School is a centrally-located public high school. Outside of traditional high school classes, they also offer 3 nationally recognized magnet programs.

13. Doral Academy (Public)

Doral Academy is a public charter school with grades kindergarten through 12. They offer a few different campuses around Las Vegas, and have a student to teacher ratio of 17 to 1.

14. Green Valley High School (Public)

Green Valley High School is a public school located in Henderson. It’s one of the highest rated public high schools in Las Vegas, and has about 3,000 students in grades 9 through 12.

15. Nevada State High School - Henderson (Public)

Nevada State High School - Henderson is a public charter school in Henderson for high school juniors and seniors. Nevada State High School is pretty unique, because students take college courses at real college campuses and Nevada, and are able to earn credit for high school and college. This way, students are able to get ahead on their college degrees while still in high school.
